Here's what Youth Guidance is all about.

Guiding youth to develop their leadership potential

Youth Guidance is all about helping young people develop their leadership potential, through mentorship and relational support.

Many of the youth that we work with are experiencing problems at home, at school, or with the law, and the majority come from immigrant families, minority groups, and high crime neighbourhoods. They often are involved in harmful activities and behaviors and do not have adequate family support or parental involvement, necessary social skills to build friendships. They have few opportunities to develop values such as respect, accountability, and trust.

Youth Guidance works with young offenders in an open custody home, where we facilitate team building activities, engage youth in meaningful discussions, and build mentorship relationships based on trust and personal guidance. We support these youth through difficult situations and we also encourage them to serve in their community, which helps them to discover their value and purpose. Youth Guidance also operates a weekly community soccer program and an annual floor hockey camp, using sport to engage youth in fun and healthy activities while developing their character and self-esteem.

At Youth Guidance, our goal is to bring the community together in our mission to support these young people. We recognize that each young person has the potential to thrive, but they just need a little help and guidance along the way. If you are passionate about mentoring at-risk youth and helping them discover their true value, we are always looking for volunteers who are willing to step up as positive role models in their lives and walk with them through their transformation.

Things that are key

In case you didn’t know.

Youth Guidance believes, that young people need to know they can do all things through Christ who strengthens them! Philippians 4:13

We believe that all youth deserve an opportunity to discover their abilities, value, and the special place they have in God's heart, all while creating healthy friendships.

96% of youth think leadership is important to addressing the country’s most pressing issues, but only one in three young people say they have the skills they need to be prepared to lead.

Our volunteers are key! Do you want to get out into the community and help make a difference? Then we invite you to come join our ministry team as a volunteer!
